India's Cabinet approves four more semiconductor projects
On 12 August 2025, India's Union Cabinet approved four more projects under the India Semiconductor Mission, worth about Rs 4,600 crore. The Press Information Bureau (PIB) says the mission now has 10 approved projects in six states.

SiCSem will build a silicon carbide compound fab at Info Valley, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, with Clas-SiC Wafer Fab of the UK. PIB calls it the first commercial compound fab in India. Planned capacity is 60,000 wafers a year and 96 million packaged units. 3D Glass Solutions will build an advanced packaging and glass substrate unit in the same park. Planned output includes about 69,600 glass panel substrates and 50 million assembled units a year.
ASIP Technologies will set up a unit in Andhra Pradesh with APACT of South Korea, at 96 million units a year. CDIL will expand its Mohali plant in Punjab. PIB calls it a brownfield expansion, at about 158.38 million units a year. PIB expects jobs for 2,034 skilled people across the four.
What the release leaves out
The release does not give cleanroom areas, room classes or construction dates. It says the six projects approved earlier are at various stages of execution.
Treat any cleanroom figure for these sites with care unless the owner has given it to you.
What a facility owner or supplier should check next
If you plan to work on one of these sites, ask the owner for its user requirements before you size anything. A fab, a packaging line and a discrete device line can ask for very different rooms. Ask for ISO 14644-1 class, pressure, temperature and humidity targets for each area.
For the Mohali expansion, ask how new rooms will link to the running plant. PIB calls the project brownfield, so work will sit next to existing operations.
