Uzbekistan's president visits the RomPharm NS pharmaceutical plant in Tashkent
On 11 September 2026, Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited RomPharm NS, a pharmaceutical plant in the Almazar district of Tashkent. The president's office gives the project cost as EUR 45 million.

The site covers 1.7 hectares. It has created 150 jobs. About 90 percent of production processes are automated. Equipment came from Italy, Germany, Austria, the United States, Switzerland and Bulgaria.
Expected yearly capacity is 1 billion tablets, 500 million capsules and 120 million sachets. The medicines treat neurological, heart, metabolic and inflammatory conditions. All of them are meant to replace imports.
The office calls the plant one of the first in Central Asia with a full production cycle. It says the quality control laboratory works to EU GMP standards. The visit links to a presidential decree of 28 January 2025 on speeding up the pharmaceutical industry. Mirziyoyev stressed expanding capacity with modern technology and supplying the home market with quality medicines. He named cutting import dependence and creating jobs as goals.
