Hyundai Motor Türkiye announces a battery pack plant at İzmit
On 16 June 2026, Hyundai Motor Türkiye said that EUR 55 million of a EUR 715 million investment package will go to a battery plant at its İzmit site. Daily Sabah reported the statement that day. The plant covers 30,000 square metres and is linked to the IONIQ 3 electric car.

What was announced
Hyundai Mobis is the partner. The plant will use 27 robots for automated battery pack assembly. Hyundai expects more than 300 jobs in the first phase. NMC cells are to come from Hungary. Electrive says the line is meant to support more electric and hybrid models in the long term, but Hyundai gave no details. It adds that Hyundai first confirmed IONIQ 3 production at İzmit in September 2025.
For the shorter-range versions, the two reports differ. Daily Sabah says LFP packs will come from China. Electrive says LFP cells. IONIQ 3 series production is due in August 2026, with 27,000 cars expected this year, per electrive of 18 June 2026.
What the reports leave out
Both reports describe battery pack assembly, not cell making. Electrive says the plant is being built on the site. Neither report gives a start date for the plant. Neither mentions cleanrooms, dry rooms, room classes or humidity.
What a facility owner or supplier should check next
Do not assume pack assembly needs the same rooms as a cell plant. Ask the owner for its user requirements. Ask which areas need controlled air at all, and what temperature, humidity and particle targets apply to each.
