What Infineon announced
Source for this section is Infineon's release of 1 October 2026, as republished by Silicon Saxony.
The site opens with one module, called Module A. It can grow to as many as five modules. Infineon says it could become one of its largest back-end sites. About 350 people work there now. The company expects about 1,000 once Module A is running.
The plant covers the full range of back-end work, plus wafer testing. Infineon describes its cleanroom, assembly and test capabilities as state of the art. It names automotive, industrial and energy infrastructure uses. It says the site runs on renewable electricity and has solar panels, water treatment and rainwater harvesting.

Figures from a news report and the Board of Investment
Reuters, as published by the New Straits Times on 1 October 2026, gives more figures. It quotes Infineon as putting the initial investment at more than EUR 100 million. It says Thailand's Board of Investment valued the project at USD 1.4 billion. The report does not reconcile the two figures.
Reuters also says the site opens with up to 30,000 square metres of cleanroom space. It quotes Gorski as saying the site can be expanded to 150,000 square metres. The Infineon release gives no investment amount and no cleanroom area. Thailand's Board of Investment gives both areas and the USD 1.4 billion value in its own release of 1 October 2026. Gorski also said the site can back up Infineon's plant in Malaysia.
What a facility owner or supplier should check next
A plant built in modules adds rooms in steps. Ask the owner which module your scope belongs to. Ask for the class, pressure, temperature and humidity target of each area. Ask how later modules will join the ones already running.
Take areas and dates from the owner, not from press reports. If you are planning a cleanroom, you can send ZY Cleanroom your room list.
