Chile's new Hospital del Salvador reaches 98.56 percent progress
On 18 May 2026, Chile's Ministry of Public Works (MOP) reported that the new Hospital del Salvador in eastern Santiago had reached 98.56 percent progress. Minister of Public Works Martín Arrau visited the works on 16 May.

The project is a concession that also includes the new National Institute of Geriatrics. It will have 641 beds, 112 of them in the Institute, and about 170,000 square metres. The hospital has 26 operating theatres. MOP says it will serve more than 500,000 people in eight districts of eastern Santiago.
The works have reached the stage of installing clinical furniture, medical equipment and technology, with sanitary, electrical and air-conditioning services. Arrau said the schedule has a hospital operating this year.
The concession award decree is dated 11 February 2014.
What the note leaves out
It gives no investment figure and no firm opening date. It gives no room classes, and it does not say which areas open first.
What a facility owner or supplier should check next
Hospitals are often commissioned in parts, with some wards running while others are still being fitted. Ask which areas open first, and ask for the commissioning records of rooms such as operating theatres and sterile supply. Ask which authority will inspect the rooms before use, and what records it wants.
