Egypt opens the EGP 3.5 billion Cleopatra El-Tagamoa Hospital in East Cairo
On 27 January 2026, Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced the opening of the Cleopatra El-Tagamoa Hospital, also called Cleopatra Sky Hospital, in East Cairo. Daily News Egypt reported it that day and puts the project at EGP 3.5 billion.

What was announced
Daily News Egypt says the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources owns the hospital. Cleopatra Hospitals Group equips and manages it. The paper calls it a flagship of the state's public-private partnership programme.
Daily News Egypt names Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Petroleum Minister Karim Badawi and group chief executive Ahmed Ezzeldin among those present.
The report lists approximately 240 rooms, 48 intensive care beds, seven operating theatres, two catheterisation laboratories and a 25-bed emergency department. The group's own news page, dated 29 January 2026, confirms the opening date of 27 January and gives a capacity of over 240 beds.
Where the sources differ
Daily News Egypt counts rooms. The group counts beds. Only the 48 intensive care beds are clearly a bed count, so quote each figure with its source.
Neither source gives a floor area. Neither gives air class, filtration or pressure data for the theatres.
What a facility owner or supplier should check next
If you work on a hospital project, ask the owner which standard it follows for theatre air supply, filtration and pressure. Ask which theatres are for general surgery and which are for special procedures, because their air needs can differ. Ask for room data sheets for the theatres, the intensive care beds and the catheterisation laboratories.
