Mexico presents a 181 billion peso plan for 9,139 new hospital beds

The plan adds 9,139 public hospital beds by the end of Sheinbaum's term in September 2030. Of these, 6,364 beds, about 70 percent, are in 50 new hospitals. Another 1,001 beds come from expanding 47 existing hospitals. The rest go into 55 other hospitals. Public hospital beds would rise from 96,966 in 2024 to 106,105 in 2030.

On 21 July 2026, Expansión reported the same money as 152 projects through 2030. They are 50 new hospitals, 47 expansions and 55 replacements or major upgrades. It says 33 projects are due to finish in 2026, adding 1,163 beds. It names IMSS, IMSS-Bienestar and ISSSTE as the owners of those 33.

What the reports leave out

The Por Esto report of 19 May names no states or towns and gives no completion calendar. The reports cited here give bed counts. They do not list operating theatres, sterile supply rooms or room classes.

What a facility owner or supplier should check next

Controlled-air rooms are a small part of a bed plan. Operating theatres, sterile supply and pharmacy rooms are common examples. If you want to work on one of these hospitals, ask its owner which of those rooms are in scope.
