What the standard now covers
The ISO record lists ISO 14644-5:2025 as published, edition 2, 24 pages, from technical committee ISO/TC 209. It sets requirements for an operations control programme, which keeps a room running within its specified cleanliness levels.
The scope names several parts. They are policies and procedures, training, installing and maintaining fixed equipment, and moving materials and portable equipment in and out. They also include a personnel programme with gowning, a cleaning programme with special cleaning, a maintenance programme and a monitoring programme. Annexes add guidance on personnel management, gowning, training and cleaning.

What it leaves out
Source for this section is the ISO catalogue entry for ISO 14644-5:2025, published 2025-05-27.
The standard does not deal with biocontamination control. ISO points readers to ISO 14698-1 and ISO 14698-2 for that. It also leaves out four other areas. They are health and safety topics with no direct link to contamination control, industry-specific rules, equipment design details, and whether cleaning agents suit room materials.
Particle limits for classification are not in this part. They stay in ISO 14644-1:2015, which ISO published on 9 December 2015.
What a facility owner should check next
Check which edition your site procedures and contracts cite. Any document that names the 2004 edition needs a review.
Then list your current procedures against the scope above. Do you have written rules for people and material entry, gowning, training, routine and special cleaning, maintenance and monitoring? Gaps show where the new edition may need work.
Design matters too. Gowning rooms, airlocks and material pass-throughs decide how easily those procedures can be followed day to day. Look at them on your drawings. If you are planning a cleanroom, you can send ZY Cleanroom your room list.
