Identify the connection first
Separate roof-sheet-to-support fixings from sheet overlaps, flashings and equipment attachments. Give each connection a drawing reference and location. State whether the support is steel, timber or another material, and provide its specified thickness or section information. A request for one screw length does not describe all these connections.
Keep length and clamp thickness in separate fields
Manufacturer tables report screw length and clamp thickness separately. [1] Ask the supplier to identify the proposed fastener and explain how its published selection information matches your assembly drawing. Do not approve a substitution because the overall length looks similar. Record any intermediate layers and the washer arrangement, and leave unresolved selection details marked To confirm.
Compare the complete offered arrangement
Use one comparison row for each connection mark. Request the fastener material, head and washer arrangement, proposed substrate application and relevant installation instructions. Manufacturer pages also identify application and supporting documents. [1] Agree whether washers or other accessories are included in the price. Ask the responsible project designer to review the offered connection and its required evidence; the quotation alone is not a load calculation.
Turn missing information into a clear enquiry
Consider an illustrative offer A giving only screw dimensions and offer B naming an assembly and its documents. Their prices cannot yet be compared as equivalent packages. Send A the same connection drawing and request the missing scope. Confirm quantities, drawing revision, destination and who approves the selection.
