How to Choose a Cleanroom Panel Manufacturer in China
Choose a cleanroom panel manufacturer in China by checking five things: that it makes the panels itself and says which items it buys in; that its catalogue gives model codes, sizes and joints you can put in a quotation; that test reports and certificates match the exact panel offered and name the holder; that you can see the production lines by video or in person; and that panels ship numbered with drawings, an installation guide and support for your crew.

1. Maker or trader?
Ask directly which items the company makes in its own factory and which it buys in. A cleanroom package usually mixes both: panels and doors from one plant, air equipment and filters from others. That is normal; what matters is that the supplier says so and checks bought-in items before shipping.
Then check it: a live video tour of the panel lines, or a visit. See how to audit a cleanroom panel factory.

2. A catalogue you can quote against
A useful catalogue lets you name the exact panel on the enquiry. Look for:
- Panel families kept apart. Handmade cleanroom panels and machine-made tongue-and-groove panels have different widths and joints. A supplier that gives one width for everything will produce a wrong panel count.
- Model codes for each width and thickness.
- Effective cover width, not just a width series, confirmed on a section drawing.
- Joint details: centre aluminium connection, male-female or tongue-and-groove.
- Face options: metal, coating type, thickness, colour; stainless steel where needed.
- Accessories: floor tracks, aluminium profiles, coving, ceiling supports, sealant.
3. Documents that match the panel offered
| Ask for | Check |
|---|---|
| Fire classification report | Laboratory, date, standard and the tested thickness and build match the offered panel |
| Section drawing | Effective width, joint, both faces |
| Management-system certificates | Scope and company name as printed; verify on the issuing body's register (in China, cnca.gov.cn) |
| Product certificates such as CE or FM, if your project needs them | Which product and which company holds the certificate |
| Inspection records and packing list | Issued with the shipment |
A core name does not give a fire rating: the rating belongs to the tested panel. Tolerances matter too: EN 14509 limits for metal-faced sandwich panels include thickness ±2 mm up to 100 mm and useful width ±2 mm. Write the tolerance basis into your order. See panel fire document review and the panel selection guide.
4. Packing, shipping and installation support
Distance is the real risk when buying from China, so ask what reduces it:
- panels cut to length and numbered to a layout drawing;
- an installation guide in your language, with videos;
- an accessory kit sized to the project;
- remote video support for your crew, and on-site supervision for larger jobs;
- agreed packing, edge protection and bundle labels;
- the right to appoint your own inspection company to check goods before loading.
See how to import a cleanroom from China and the panel installation guide.
5. Scope and responsibility in writing
Ask whether the supplier offers supply only, design and supply, or turnkey, and get the split of work in the contract. GMP approval belongs to your facility and your regulator, not to any panel maker; the supplier builds to your requirements and hands over test reports and documents. See how to choose a cleanroom contractor.
Red flags
| Sign | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| One width quoted for every panel type | Panel count will be wrong |
| "GMP certified panels" or "GMP certified contractor" | GMP approval belongs to the facility and its regulator |
| A fire class quoted for a core, not a tested panel | The class belongs to the tested panel |
| Certificates in a different company's name with no explanation | You don't know who stands behind the product |
| No way to see the production line | You cannot check who makes the panels |
| A price per m² with no list of what it covers | Accessories, packing and freight may be missing |

Questions
Common questions
How do I know a Chinese cleanroom panel supplier is a real manufacturer?
Ask which items it makes and which it buys in, then check: a live video tour of the panel lines, management-system certificates verified on cnca.gov.cn with the exact company name, and the factory address.
What should a cleanroom panel catalogue include?
Separate panel families with their own widths, thicknesses and joints, model codes, the effective cover width on a section drawing, face options and accessories. That lets you name the exact panel on an enquiry.
Do Chinese cleanroom panel makers have CE or FM certificates?
Some do, for specific products. Ask for the certificate and check which product, which standard and which company it covers; a certificate held by another company or for another product does not cover the panel you are buying.
What is the biggest risk when buying cleanroom panels from China?
Gaps between what was quoted and what arrives or fits. Reduce it with a section drawing per panel family, a panel schedule with cut lengths, agreed tolerances and packing, and an inspection before loading.
Can my local crew install panels from a Chinese manufacturer?
Yes, if the panels arrive numbered to a layout drawing with an installation guide and accessories. Ask for remote video support during set-out and the first panels.
